Builders Vision Announces Noelle Laing as New Sole Chief Investment Officer
Laing to oversee all investment strategies and management of multi-billion dollar portfolio

Chicago, IL – Today, Builders Vision announced that Noelle Laing, CFA, has been promoted to a new role as the sole Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of Builders Vision. Previously the CIO of Builders Initiative, Noelle will take over the new position and consolidate Builders Vision’s investment strategies into one practice with a combined team of nearly 30 investors.
Noelle brings over two decades of experience in the investment space, including working directly with Builders Vision Founder and CEO Lukas Walton’s investment portfolio for over 12 years. In her role as CIO of Builders Initiative, Noelle managed the Builders Initiative Foundation endowment of $1.7 billion, successfully transitioning 90% of the portfolio to mission-aligned investments in 2022. The team continues to find compelling investments to advance the portfolio's goals for mission-alignment while achieving its long-term return targets. She also led a team of investors allocating over $300 million toward supporting impact-driven entrepreneurs, companies, and fund managers, with a particular emphasis on transformational opportunities in oceans, food & agriculture, and energy.
“Noelle has been instrumental in the success of our investment strategies and is the perfect person for the job,” said Lukas Walton. “With her depth of experience, Noelle will unite our talented investors under one team and together they will inspire further co-investment and help catalyze markets. Through increased coordination and shared vision, we can be even more effective at pursuing these goals across our sectors.”
Builders Vision’s focus on the oceans, energy transition and agriculture sectors is embedded in all of the organization’s investment portfolios. As CIO, Noelle will continue overseeing the Foundation’s endowment portfolios and guiding Builders Vision’s catalytic investment efforts. Additionally, under the consolidated investment team, she will lead Builders Vision’s global, multi-billion-dollar asset management portfolio, which invests across public and private markets through third-party fund managers and co-investments. These multi-asset class portfolios have a proven track record of supporting sustainable solutions and generating strong financial returns.
Builders Vision continues to establish itself as a leader in working across the capital spectrum and exploring new ways to encourage a more sustainable economy. Noelle is also widely recognized as a thought leader in the field, regularly speaking with other high-net worth families and their teams on how to align their assets and endowments with their impact goals through the use of mission-driven investing strategies.
“I am thrilled to step into this new role as Builders Vision continues its work to build a more resilient future,” said Noelle Laing. “I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished so far – consistently demonstrating the successful outcomes of our sector-driven, systems approach. We are well positioned for the long-term with our market-rate strategies.”
Notable Builders Vision investments include: a $70 million credit guarantee for “The Bahamas Debt Conversion Project for Marine Conservation” in 2024 (a first for a family office), an industry leading $1.7 billion foundation endowment that is nearly 100% mission-aligned, a $260 million oceans investment and philanthropic program that catalyzed an estimated $2.2 billion of investment capital for the ocean sector, and so many more. The team at Builders Vision has also deployed nearly $700 million in philanthropic capital, including over $140 million that has been granted to Chicago-based organizations.
