Laura Rodriguez manages the foundation’s oceans program, guiding program strategy while providing staff leadership. She oversees the restorative aquaculture grant portfolio and fosters cross-office collaboration to scale solutions for ocean health, market innovations, and sustainable development. Laura Rodriguez is a mission-driven leader focused on advancing market-based solutions for sustainable development and resilient ocean economies.

Prior to joining Builders Vision, she worked across Latin America at the Environmental Defense Fund, integrating science into policy and management decisions, and building trust-based partnerships to advance innovative market tools for sustainable fisheries management. In this role, she developed innovative approaches to market readiness, enabling sustainable practices that delivered measurable social, environmental, and economic outcomes.

Originally from Guadalajara, Mexico, Laura earned her PhD in Marine Ecology from the University of California, Davis, and a bachelor’s degree in Marine Biology from the University of New Hampshire.

Outside of work, she enjoys​ spending time outdoors in the water and on the snow, traveling, and trying to grow her own food.
